Tabletop RPG and Worldbuilding Prompt Pack

40 prompts for game masters and writers, from blank page to table-ready.

A practical prompt pack for game masters, players who prep and fiction writers. The 40 prompts follow a campaign from the first pitch and session zero through worldbuilding, places, NPCs, plots and encounters to the notes you take afterwards. Each one is a fill-in-the-blanks template with a "when to use" note and a short example. They keep ideas original, stay system-agnostic and label every number as a suggestion to check against your own rulebook.

What's included

  • 23-page PDF (instant download, printable)
  • The table brief: a reusable context block (system, tone, group, lines and veils) that makes every answer fit your game
  • Three ground rules (stay original, check rules and licenses, respect the table) plus a "which prompt do I need?" table
  • 40 copy-paste prompts in 8 sections, each with when to use it, the full prompt and a short example

Tabletop RPG pack #16

NPC on demand

When to use: The players just asked a stranger a question and you have nothing.

Create an NPC for [SITUATION, e.g. "a night-shift ferry operator at a small river crossing"] in a [SETTING] game.
Give me: name, how they look in one detail, how they talk (a speech tic or phrase), what they want right now, what they're afraid of, one thing they know that the party would love to know, and what they'd want in exchange. Make the name fit the culture: [CULTURE / REGION].
Keep it to 80 words so I can read it in 30 seconds.
Tabletop RPG pack #21

Mystery with a clue web

When to use: You want a mystery that can't be derailed by one missed clue.

Design a mystery for [SETTING]. The central question is [WHO / WHAT / WHY]. Use the three-clue rule: for every key conclusion, include at least three different clues pointing to it.
Give: the truth (what really happened, in order), the suspects with motives, a clue list (each clue: where it's found, what it points to, and what happens if players miss it), 3 red herrings and a fallback if players get stuck.
Present the clue web as a table so I can check coverage.

Who it's for

Game masters, players who like to prep, and fiction writers building worlds. System-agnostic: it works for fantasy, sci-fi, horror or anything else, with or without a published rulebook.

Format and honest notes

PDF. Examples are illustrative and abridged, so your results will differ. The prompts never supply official rules or stats: check numbers against your own rulebook and the license of your system. Some tables and publishers have rules about AI use, so check yours.

Questions

Which tabletop systems does it work with?

Any of them. The prompts are system-agnostic and take a [SYSTEM] placeholder, so they work for fantasy, sci-fi, horror, narrative games or no system at all. Because AI can invent or misquote rules, the prompts tell it to label numbers as suggestions, and you check your own rulebook.

Is it okay to use AI at my table?

That is up to you and your group. Some players dislike AI, so raise it in session zero. The pack uses AI for brainstorming and prep while you make every creative decision at the table.

Is it only for game masters?

No. Fiction writers use the worldbuilding, culture, history, villain and consistency prompts as they are. Players can use the character hook and party glue prompts.

What do I get after paying?

A PDF download link appears right after checkout on Gumroad, and Gumroad also emails you a receipt with the link. Lost it? Product pages on Gumroad have an "already bought this?" option.

Is there a discount?

Yes. Use code LAUNCH20 at checkout for 20% off any of the three single packs. The bundle is $24 instead of $30 when bought separately.

What if something is wrong with my file?

Reply to your Gumroad receipt email or message us through the Gumroad product page and we will sort it out.
